by News Desk · The Siasat DailyHyderabad: All measures must be taken to turn Hyderabad into a clean, traffic-free city, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said on Monday, November 2.
At a review meeting with municipal officials at his Jubilee Hills residence, the CM instructed the authorities to ensure that no garbage is visible anywhere in the city and emphasised the need for continuous monitoring of waste collection.
He advised officials to create awareness about the effective use of ‘Green Tankers’—which supply treated water from Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs)—for construction activities, park maintenance, landscaping and gardening across the city.
While the Water Board has initiated the service of 28 ‘green water’ (treated wastewater) tankers, sourced from 19 STPs, as a first phase, the Chief Minister suggested expanding the supply to areas under the GHMC, as well as those under the CMC (Cyberabad Municipal Corporation) and MMC (Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation) limits.
‘Traffic-free urban space’
Reviewing the increasing traffic challenges, the CM also directed officials to take necessary measures to address traffic congestion and transform the city into a ‘traffic-free’ urban space. CM Revanth Reddy emphasized the need for effective traffic regulation and instructed officials to prepare plans for the construction of underpasses and elevated corridors to establish a signal-free system.
Among those present for the meeting were MP Vem Narender Reddy, CM Secretary Manik Raj, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Municipal Commissioner G. Srujana.
