Bengaluru: A police search at the residence of Janata Dal (Secular) worker Mohan Gowda in Byadarahalli, Bengaluru, in connection with the alleged sting operation involving former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took an unexpected turn after a woman police inspector found that her gold bracelet was missing.

The police team had visited Mohan Gowda’s residence with a court-issued search warrant as part of the investigation. Inspectors Mukharam and Kavitha, along with other personnel, were involved in the operation.

Scuffle between police and Gowda’s wife

According to the complaint, a confrontation broke out when police attempted to seize a mobile phone for investigation. Mohan Gowda’s wife, Pavithra, and another woman identified as her friend allegedly refused to cooperate with the search. An argument reportedly escalated into a scuffle between Inspector Kavitha and Pavithra when the latter allegedly refused to hand over the phone.

During the altercation, a gold bracelet weighing approximately nine grams, which Kavitha was wearing, is alleged to have come off her wrist and fallen. The inspector reportedly realised that the jewellery was missing only after the police team returned to the station following the search.

Complaint over obstruction of duty

Kavitha subsequently returned to the residence and searched for the bracelet. She also questioned Pavithra, who reportedly said that neither a gold chain nor a bracelet had been found at the house.

The inspector later lodged a formal complaint at Byadarahalli police station over alleged obstruction of official duty and the missing jewellery during the search.

Police initiated action on the complaint and began efforts to trace the missing bracelet and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to the report, Pavithra allegedly locked the house and left after fearing arrest.

The Byadarahalli police are searching for the woman and investigating the allegations. The incident has drawn attention because it occurred during a search connected with the politically sensitive sting operation case involving Siddaramaiah.
