Hyderabad: With retired employees recently protesting delays in the payment of retirement benefits, the Telangana government is set to verify the PAN and Aadhaar details of all service and family pensioners.

According to a report in The Hindu, these details would be gathered and updated in the Integrated Financial Management and Information System (IFMIS) pension module by December 31.

The government has instructed officials to collect copies of PAN and Aadhaar cards of the pensioners for verification. This would ensure identification of pensioners, their cross-verification, and also better running of pension-related services, it said.

A memo from the Treasury and Accounts department said, “It is also intended to prevent irregular withdrawal of pension and, thereby, to safeguard the government exchequer against potential financial loss.”

As many as 9,719 employees are set to retire by the end of this year, while another 9,443 would do so in 2027. As far as verification goes, wherever Aadhaar and PAN details are not available on record, the concerned pensioner or family pensioners have to make them available.

Giving the whole exercise top priority, officers have been asked to rectify mistakes in the details by December 31 this year.
