Qatar Telugu diaspora raises QR 42,966 to help bereaved family

Late Sunkai Mallesh’s family was facing financial hardship, with his daughter’s wedding approaching.

Doha: The Telugu diaspora in Qatar has come together to support the family of a Telangana man who recently died in the country, raising QR 42,966 (around INR 11.19 lakh) to help them cope with financial difficulties.

Late Sunkai Mallesh, a native of Nizamabad district, Telangana, was the family’s breadwinner. His death left his family facing financial hardship, with his daughter’s wedding also approaching.

Recognising the family’s situation, Gottipati Ramanaiah, president of Andhra Kala Vedika (AKV) and NRI TDP Qatar, and Gadde Srinivas, president of Telangana Praja Samithi (TPS), took the initiative to mobilise support.

They coordinated with Telugu associations, community leaders, expatriates and well-wishers and appealed to the community to extend financial assistance.

The appeal received a strong response, with Telugu organisations contributing a total of QR 42,966. The amount was handed over to Mallesh’s wife.

Telugu organisations contribute to relief effort

AKV made the largest contribution, providing QR 26,616.

Ramanaiah said the initiative reflected the community’s responsibility to stand by families facing difficult circumstances. He thanked the organisations and individuals who contributed, saying their support would provide the bereaved family with financial relief and reassurance.

The organisers also thanked the management committees of AKV, TPS, TWA and TGS for their cooperation. They expressed appreciation to Dr Amulya Rao and the management of Loyola International School, Qatar, for their assistance.

Saudi Telugu organisations praise Qatar initiative

The initiative was also praised by Telugu organisations in Saudi Arabia. Representatives of TASA, SATA and Sreeni Humanity Service commended the Qatar Telugu community for coming together across organisational and regional lines to support the family.

They particularly appreciated the efforts of Ramanaiah and Srinivas in coordinating the initiative and emphasised the importance of Telugu organisations supporting community members during times of need.

Representatives of the organisations included TASA Saudi Arabia president Tirupathiswamy Swarna, Riyadh president Murari Tatikayala and other office-bearers; SATA Riyadh president Srinivas Macha and senior members; and Sreeni Humanity Service Riyadh president Dudam Sanjeev and general secretary Mohammed Abdul Ghaffar.

They expressed hope that the initiative would inspire Telugu associations in Saudi Arabia and other parts of the world to strengthen community welfare efforts.

The support extended to Mallesh’s family highlights the role of diaspora organisations in providing practical assistance during bereavement and financial hardship, while demonstrating solidarity among Telugu expatriates in Qatar.
