Hyderabad: With the help of the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), a central government initiative operated by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to block and trace lost or stolen mobile phones, the Abids Road Police managed to recover 35 stolen devices.

Upon receiving complaints, the police entered the details of lost mobile phones into the CEIR portal for tracking. After receiving the tracking details, the personnel recovered various handsets and handed them over to the respective owners after unblocking them. Out of these, five were handed over to the victims at their doorsteps.

The police advised the public to immediately “approach the concerned police station with a complaint, identity proof, and other relevant documents to facilitate the tracing and recovery of the lost cellphone”.
