HYDRAA Prajavani gets 47 complaints on encroachments, flooding
Complains ranging from encroachment, rainwater mixing with sewage drains, blocked drains and flooded roads were received.
by News Desk · The Siasat DailyHyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) Prajavani was conducted on Monday, June, where 47 complaints related to rains and flooding were received.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath listened to the complaints of citizens ranging from encroachment, rainwater mixing with sewage drains, blocked drains and flooded roads.
Residents in Miyapur raised questions over the agency’s plan to construct the 2,400-metre-wide flood drains being built along the six-lane road linking the Gandi Maisamma to be connected to 200-metre pipes in Pragathi Nagar. They stated this could lead to serious flooding on heavy rain days.
In another case, residents of Sachivalayam Colony in Rangareddy complained about attempts at encroachment from one side of their colony and requested demarcation of the layout boundaries. They also pointed out an overhead tank which has not been used for many years.
Shaikpet locals raised health concerns and complained of industrial waste entering Dvarakanagar Boduppal Lake through canals and drainage. They said many are at risk of respiratory diseases. They also complained of an encroached road in Survey Number 403/1 limits.
In Alwal’s Indira Nagar Colony, residents said that an illegal wall on the municipal road has sprung up, blocking the passageway. The wall has stalled drainage and sewage flow, causing water to enter homes during monsoons. They appealed to HYDRAA to remove the road encroachment and restore the drainage system.
