Missing Las Vegas area man found dead near Alamo, sheriff’s office says

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office released information Wednesday about two separate cases involving a body and human remains found near the town of Alamo, including one involving a man who was reported missing from Las Vegas last month.

On Aug. 21, the sheriff’s office said it received reports of a body found off the road approximately 25 miles south of Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.

The body was identified as Andrew Fehrman, 36, the sheriff’s office said.

A missing persons bulletin issued by the Metropolitan Police Department on Aug. 4 said Fehrman was last seen at noon on Aug. 1, near the 12000 block of Canyon Sunset Street in Summerlin.

An autopsy performed by the Clark County coroner’s office determined that Fehrman died of extreme heat exposure, the sheriff’s office said.

In a separate and unrelated incident, the sheriff’s office also reported that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service found human skeletal remains on Sept. 20 at the Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge. In a news release, the sheriff’s office said that it transferred the remains to the Clark County coroner’s office for a full autopsy. The sheriff’s office said the incident remained under investigation.

The incidents prompted the sheriff’s office to issue a warning about the dangers of the desert.

“With extreme heat, limited shade and water resources, dangerous situations can arise fast,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “If you are going to explore our beautiful wilderness, please be sure to take precautions.”

Alamo is about 95 miles north of Las Vegas.
