LETTER: Sheriff McMahill’s double standard

Sheriff Kevin McMahill says he is “OK with” a Metro sergeant letting Gov. Joe Lombardo off without a ticket for running a red light. Yet the sheriff has aggressively lobbied lawmakers for automated red-light cameras to penalize everyday citizens. Talk about a double standard.

If Mr. McMahill believes strict fines are necessary to change the public’s bad driving behavior, he shouldn’t be making excuses when his political allies get caught breaking traffic laws. Or excusing his officers for letting anyone off.
