Suspect in killing of worker at Five Below in Las Vegas after arrest in California

A man arrested in connection with a deadly shooting at a discount store has returned to Las Vegas after being arrested in California, records show.

David Vasquez, 19, faces a count each of murder, discharging a gun within a structure or vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

The Metropolitan Police Department has identified him as a suspect in the June 17 shooting of an employee at the Five Blow store at 2152 North Rainbow Boulevard, near West Lake Mead Boulevard.

Vasquez was reportedly upset that Brandan Lucas, the alleged victim, had sent flirtatious text messages to Vasquez’s girlfriend, who worked with Lucas at the store.

He was arrested in July by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and faced extradition at a jail in Barstow.

Records indicate that he was booked into the Clark County Detention Center Saturday. He is being held without bail.
