Off-duty Metro officer injured in shooting in western Las Vegas

An off-duty corrections officer with the Metropolitan Police Department has been injured in a shooting Monday night in the western Las Vegas Valley, police said.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police Department said at 8:43 p.m., police received a report of a shooting near a business in the 7600 block of West Cheyenne Avenue.

One person was transported to a local hospital with a gunshot wound and is currently in surgery. The suspect remains outstanding, police said.
