Nevada State Police Colonel Michael Edgell will discuss the preliminary findings of an investigation into last week’s deadly police shooting on Interstate 11.

Edgell is expected to address the media at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Troopers were investigating a crash on I-11 in downtown Las Vegas on Wednesday when Sean Shirazi, 45, drove through the crash scene and hit a semi-truck, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report. Police said Shirazi disobeyed commands to leave his SUV and pinned a trooper against a firetruck with his vehicle.

The trooper opened fire, according to police. Shirazi’s passenger, identified as Corinne Barnes, 40, died of a gunshot wound to her torso. Shirazi was shot in the chest.

Shirazi faces counts of second-degree murder, disobeying a police officer, resisting an officer, failing to stop at the scene of an accident and battery and assault against a first responder.
