Las Vegas police officer arrested, faces child abuse, domestic violence-related charges

A Metropolitan Police Department officer was arrested Saturday and is facing child abuse and domestic violence-related charges, according to the department.

Metro said in a release that Officer Jerry Wheeler was arrested on the Fourth of July and booked into Clark County Detention Center for one charge of battery constituting domestic violence.

On Tuesday, the Clark County District Attorney’s Office amended Wheeler’s charges, adding one count of child abuse, neglect or endangerment, and one count of battery in addition to his previous charge, Metro said.

Wheeler has been employed by Metro since 2019 and was placed on suspension without pay until further notice, the department said.
