Coroner identifies suspect killed in gunbattle that also left Metro officer dead

The Clark County coroner’s office on Friday identified the gunman killed in a gunbattle that also left a Metropolitan Police Department officer dead in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.

An online database showed that 21-year-old Angel Tywan Lucas Lindsey died Tuesday. The case number for Lucas Lindsey matches the one previously provided by a county spokesperson who said the person was connected to the police shooting.

His cause and manner of death are still pending, according to the online records.

Authorities have said Austin “Zade” Abdelnabi responded to a call about a man with a gun at 3:57 p.m. near the 4500 block of East Tropicana Avenue. The gunman, identified as Lucas Lindsey was later found nearby in the 5400 block of Mountain Vista Street, near Interstate 11.

Metro sheriff Kevin McMahill said the man ambushed Abdelnabi. The gunman was also killed by police. In addition to Abdelnabi, a second Metro officer, Enrique Molinet, 29, was involved in the shooting, police said.

Abdelnabi was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and had been employed by Metro since 2023. Molinet joined the department in 2022. Molinet has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending a review.
