Stolen car chase leaves teen facing life-threatening injuries, 3 others injured
by Trevor Squire / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalA police chase involving a stolen vehicle Friday night resulted in a crash in northwest Las Vegas that sent four people to the hospital, including a 14-year-old who is facing life-threatening injuries, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Police said officers were actively pursuing a stolen 2018 Hyundai Elantra at approximately 6:54 p.m. The Elantra was speeding northbound on Durango Drive and passed through the intersection at Cheyenne Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle before colliding with the rear end of a stopped 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe. The Elantra then went off the road and struck a wall and a bus stop, according to Metro.
The 15-year-old male driver of the stolen Elantra was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. A 14-year-old male in the front passenger seat was transported with life-threatening injuries. A 16-year-old male in the backseat was also transported with serious injuries.
The driver of the Santa Fe, a 61-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and was transported for medical treatment.
