by Sophie Baker / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalThe Metropolitan Police Department released a report on Friday documenting its use-of-force statistics from 2025.
Officers responded to roughly 1.4 million events last year, according to the report. Of those, the report documented 1,019 incidents which ended in a reportable use of force, including seven officer-involved shootings.
The department’s corrections officers also recorded 170 non-deadly use-of-force incidents, the lowest total in the five-year reporting period.
According to a Friday news release from the department, police focused on incorporating technologies that would improve communication, preplanning, officer safety and supervisor response to critical incidents.
“The LVMPD strives for improvement and strategies on how to reduce deadly force incidents,” the news release stated. “An emphasis on providing officers with accurate information during dynamic incidents and de-escalation techniques is paramount for building community trust and enhancing overall police services.”
