Las Vegas police arrested 6 at ‘No Kings’ rally
by Glenn Puit / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalLas Vegas police arrested six people during a “No Kings” protest in downtown Las Vegas on Saturday, including a Henderson man accused of throwing rocks at officers.
Court and police records show Gregory Arron Clark Jr., 40, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on a gross misdemeanor count of battery on a protected person. Police said Clark was arrested after two officers working at the protest near Bridger Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard South were struck by rocks.
Clark, police said, was observed yelling obscenities at the police moments after the officers were struck. A police report did not indicate whether the officers were injured.
Clark has since been released from custody. He had not been formally charged as of Monday afternoon.
Five others at the protest were arrested on offenses ranging from battery to pedestrian in the roadway, police said. Their names were not immediately available.
Police said about 1,400 people gathered for the downtown Las Vegas protest criticizing the policies and practices of President Donald Trump.
North Las Vegas police said Monday about 300 people also gathered Saturday for a “No Kings” protest near Craig Ranch Park. Henderson police, meanwhile, said about 900 people attended a “No Kings” protest in the area of Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway.
Both North Las Vegas and Henderson police said no arrests were made at either gathering.
