Man arrested in southeast Las Vegas slaying
by Glenn Puit / Las Vegas Review-Journal · Las Vegas Review-JournalA 19-year-old man has been arrested in the attempted robbery and killing of a man in southeast Las Vegas, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Elijah Harris was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on suspicion of murder, attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery, police said in a news release Friday.
Police said Harris is one of the suspects in the killing of Victor Powe, 59, who was shot dead on April 10.
Powe was sitting in his car in the 5700 block of Missouri Avenue, near Boulder Highway, when three men approached him. After a short interaction, police said, one of the men shot Powe and the three suspects fled on foot. Powe attempted to drive away, police said, but crashed into nearby buildings.
In an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court Friday afternoon, Harris was ordered held without bail, court records show. His next court date has been set for Tuesday.
