Man, 27, with life-threatening injuries after trapped between 2 cars in Las Vegas crash

A 27-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after becoming trapped between two vehicles in a crash in downtown Las Vegas on Tuesday night, according to police.

The Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release that the crash occurred at 10:33 p.m. on East Charleston Boulevard, east of South Main Street.

Evidence at the scene, video surveillance and witness statements indicate that a 2023 Chevrolet Suburban was stopped westbound at a red light at East Charleston Boulevard and South Main Street. A 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQS was also stopped behind the Chevrolet.

Police said a pedestrian, identified as a 27-year-old Winter Park, Florida, man, was crossing east of the intersection, outside a marked or implied crosswalk, between the Chevrolet and the Mercedes-Benz.

For an unknown reason, the Mercedes-Benz accelerated forward, police said, striking the pedestrian and trapping him between the Mercedes-Benz and the Chevrolet.

The man was taken to UMC Trauma, where medical personnel determined his injuries were life-threatening.

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.
