by Alexis Garcia · 5 NBCDFWArlington police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with a deadly shooting in March that killed a 32-year-old man.
The Arlington Police Department announced Monday that Xavier Jones was taken into custody on Thursday near Panama City, Florida, by the U.S. Marshals Florida/Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task Force.
On March 29, Karri Viswanath was shot multiple times outside of an event venue in the 1200 block of California Lane, according to Arlington Police.
A friend transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Multiple witnesses told Arlington Police that Jones and Viswanath got into a physical fight inside the venue, prompting private security to start clearing out the space.
A short time later, multiple shots were fired outside the business. Witnesses reported seeing Jones getting into a vehicle following the shooting and driving away from the scene.
An additional witness later told detectives they saw Jones holding a gun just before the shooting.
The witness also shared a video that surfaced online showing Jones going to his vehicle, retrieving an object, and doing a racking motion consistent with a firearm.
In the video, he was seen walking toward the area where the shooting occurred moments before shots rang out.
Jones is currently being held in the Bay County Jail in Florida, where he will await extradition back to Tarrant County. It's unclear if Jones has obtained an attorney to speak on his behalf.
