A California man was charged Tuesday with murder after allegedly stabbing another man to death when he found him in bed with his wife, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

Ismael Pinedalopez, 34, faces one felony count of murder and a sentencing enhancement for personally using a weapon in connection to the death of 28-year-old Nicholas Garcia.

Prosecutors said Pinedalopez returned home early from work on Oct. 24 and discovered Garcia wearing only his underwear in bed with his wife and the couple's two young children.

Pinedalopez confronted Garcia and stabbed him multiple times with a pocketknife, according to prosecutors.

Anaheim police were called to the home on North Pine Street near W. Wilhelmina Street. Officers found the victim’s body in the bedroom Pinedalopez shared with his wife and the couple's 2-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, prosecutors said.

Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene. Pinedalopez's wife and children were not injured.

“Violence is never the answer, and it is truly heartbreaking that these young children had to witness their father commit such a horrific act of brutality in their own home,” said District Attorney Todd Spitzer.

Pinedalopez faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in prison if convicted on all counts.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 27.
