A North Texas woman has been arrested on a murder warrant in connection with her husband's 2002 cold case murder.

The Frisco Police Department said they arrested 55-year-old Lisa Honrud, of Waxahachie, before 8 a.m. Monday on a murder warrant. In 2002, Honrud's husband, Plano resident Frank Weiss, was found dead near Lake Lewisville in the Frisco city limits.

Investigators said Monday that significant progress was made in the 24‑year‑old cold case homicide thanks to new information from a key witness, along with advancements in investigative techniques and modern technology.

“Our city has grown tremendously over the years and with that has the talent and growth of our investigators here at the department," said spokesperson Sgt. Ryan Thomas.

Police did not say, specifically, what led them to arrest the victim's widow. It's not immediately clear if Honrud has obtained an attorney to speak on her behalf.

“We are thankful for our investigators who have put countless hours into this case, as well as the Waxahachie Police Department for their assistance with this arrest," said Frisco Chief of Police David Shilson. "For 24 years, the Weiss family has waited for answers. Today’s arrest is an important step toward justice, and we will continue working until everyone involved is held accountable.”

Weiss's daughter, Carla Weiss, told NBC5 that she believes others were involved in her father's death and hopes all will be brought to justice.

She added in a statement, "My dad was a wonderful man, the kind of guy who put me on his shoulders for three hours to ride the pink dumbo because no other color would do. The kind of guy who DJ’d my 16th birthday party and all my friends knew as Daddy Frank. He deserved better than this, and we deserved to have him in our lives a lot longer than we did.”
