by Hannah Jones · 5 NBCDFWA Parker County one-year-old is dead after a family member accidentally ran over him while moving a car in the driveway of their home, police say.
According to the Parker County Sheriff's Office, on April 28 at approximately 4:30 p.m., the Parker County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a family member who said a one-year-old male child had been struck by a vehicle.
Officials said deputies and investigators were immediately dispatched to a residence located in Northeast Parker County, where they contacted the child’s family.
The preliminary investigation determined that, due to incoming storms, an adult family member left the residence and attempted to move a vehicle closer to the structure for protection, officials said.
According to officials, the child also exited the residence without the family’s knowledge and stood near the vehicle in a blind spot.
Officials said that as the vehicle pulled forward, the child was subsequently run over.
The family immediately began life-saving measures until EMS arrived and transported the child to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Azle, where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.
"It is with great sadness that we are making this report," Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said. "The thoughts and prayers of the Parker County Sheriff’s Office go out to this family during this difficult time."
