Dallas police search for driver accused of killing pedestrian in Pleasant Grove

by Allie Spillyards · 5 NBCDFWDallas police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a man crossing the street in Pleasant Grove before fleeing back on July 1st.
Michael Turner’s loved ones say he was just a few minutes from home. They believe he’d headed out on foot to pick up food after work.
Elisa Estrada said detectives notified her oldest son a week after the crash.
“My son didn’t go into detail. He just said, ‘Mom, I hate to tell you this but Mike ain’t here no more,” she said.
According to police, the crash happened along Buckner Boulevard near the intersection of Elam Road just after 10:30 p.m. on July 1st.

Police say the driver never stopped.
“I’m not angry. I’m more in shock. Why didn’t he stop and help? He just made it worse on himself. I just want justice for my son. He needs to be caught and not let out,” Estrada said.
Turner’s stepsister described him as one-of-a-kind, a person who welcomed everyone with open arms.
While he worked as a server, family said Turner’s true passion was music.
Estrada said his bandmates are still grieving his loss.
“They practiced like every week, tried to every day because they were trying to finish an album and they were close to doing that,” she said.
Instead, now loved ones are planning a funeral while hoping police soon make an arrest.
