Robbery suspect shot by Richardson police after foot chase

Richardson police say the robbery suspect was shot and hospitalized, the investigation remains ongoing

Monday afternoon, Richardson police were called to a robbery in progress along Belt Line Road, near South MacArthur Boulevard.

A release from Richardson police stated officers received information that the suspect ran away from the scene. Officers found a person matching the suspect's description walking and attempted to make contact. During that encounter, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

Police say the suspect was taken to the hospital; their condition is unknown.

Richardson police say the investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they are confirmed.

As of 5:30 p.m., Richardson police stated that both eastbound and westbound lanes of Belt Line Road are closed between North Plano Road and North St. Johns Drive.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
