Letter to the editor: Calling all still-reasonable Democrats

· The Washington Times

OPINION:

From what I can tell, the Democrats in the United States have been cheating on elections for two centuries.

It started back in the 1812, when Eldridge Gerry, a Massachusetts Democratic-Republican, signed a partisan redistricting designed to give his party a political advantage over the Federalists. Hence the term gerrymandering.

The Democratic-Republican Party later became the Democratic Party. The Democratic-Republican Party corrupted the Electoral College in the 1830s by instituting the winner-takes-all voting scheme. That move essentially disenfranchised every voter in a Republican district.

For example, in Virginia, five of the more rural districts vote Republican but six of the more liberal districts vote Democratic. So, while the vote was 45% Republican and 55% Democratic, all the electoral votes went to the Democratic candidate.

Now, they’re attempting to disenfranchise the Republican voters in Virginia by taking away the voters’ ability to put their choice of candidates in the House of Representatives.

Republicans across the state and any Democrats who still believe in fair elections should all vote a resounding no on the redistricting referendum on Tuesday. The referendum is a blatant power grab by the socialist/Marxist “leadership” of Gov. Abigail Spanberger.
