Democrats swoon over Graham Platner, candidate with a Nazi tattoo
by Editorial Board · The Washington TimesOPINION:
In the Democrats’ drive to retake the Senate, there is no candidate they would not embrace, no matter how scary he is — including Graham Platner.
The oyster farmer and former serviceman is the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for the Senate from Maine.
Besides having a Nazi tattoo on his chest (he claims he didn’t know what it meant, not unlike the way former FBI Director James B. Comey said he had no idea what the number 86 signified), Mr. Platner has in the past described himself as a communist (he now says he is a “vegetable-growing, psychedelics-taking socialist”).
He says that “all cops are bastards,” has expressed admiration for Hamas tactics and said rape victims should take some responsibility for “get[ting] so f—-ed up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to.”
In the coming election, Mr. Platner will carry the banner of the party of “Believe all women.”
Democratic Party heavyweights are falling all over themselves to get behind this repulsive character. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, said he was her “kind of man.” She later clarified that to mean she admired his position on economic issues, not his position on rape victims.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, who is Jewish, also backs the candidate with the Third Reich tattoo, as do the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. One who doesn’t is Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, who is fast becoming the Democratic Party’s conscience.
Mr. Fetterman describes the would-be Gauleiter of Maine as “an a-hole with a Nazi tattoo on his chest.”

Doubtless, the Democratic Party establishment would be more comfortable with Maine Gov. Janet Mills, who just dropped out of the race for the Democratic nomination. The fact that they are willing to get behind Mr. Platner speaks volumes about their lack of integrity.
This is the party that marched shoulder to shoulder with half a dozen communist groups in May Day demonstrations this year. It is also the party that opposes President Trump’s war to keep nuclear weapons out of the hands of a homicidal regime that is the chief international sponsor of terrorism.
To delve further back in history, it is also the party that supported slavery, segregation and the Ku Klux Klan.
The party of Presidents Truman and Kennedy has become a parade of geeks, grifters, far-left loonies and terrorist sympathizers.
The Democratic Party’s rank opportunism and willingness to tolerate evil should condemn it in the eyes of voters.
