Cuban delegation storms out of U.N. General Assembly as Trump predicts communist regime ‘will fall’
by Jeff Mordock · The Washington TimesCuba’s delegation to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday walked out of President Trump’s speech after he predicted the island’s communist government “will fall.”
“My administration is also seeking a fundamental change in the situation in Cuba, where the communist regime is under great pressure, the biggest pressure they’ve ever been under; it’s an absolutely failed state,” Mr. Trump told the world leaders gathered in the hall.
“It’s failing like never before, and it will fall,” he said, adding that his administration is seeking a “fundamental change.”
Mr. Trump said Secretary of State Marco Rubio is “deep into negotiations” with Havana.
“Let’s see what happens,” the president said.
As Mr. Trump said the island’s government “will fall,” Foreign Minister Bunro Rodriguez Parrilla led the Cuban delegation out of the room.
