Letter to the editor: Our nation is awash in the blood of the preborn

· The Washington Times

OPINION:

As preparations are being made for the celebration of the 250th anniversary of our independence, it is notable how our country has changed for the worse.

Prior to the 1973 Supreme Court Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions, which legalized abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, most women avoided premarital sex and when married, accepted the children God blessed them with.

Now, over 1 million babies are killed by abortion each year. Abortionists show no respect for the preborn, even performing abortions to harvest the babies’ organs for experiments.

Planned Parenthood, one of the leading abortion providers, sells pills that cause abortion but risk women’s health and lives. PP ignores safety regulations, telling women these pills can be used beyond the limit imposed by the Food and Drug Administration. To PP and other abortion providers, pregnant women are merely a means of profit.

Recently, Planned Parenthood found another way to make money from women: selling them abortion pills in case they become pregnant (“Planned Parenthood thumbs nose at FDA by selling abortion pills to women before they’re pregnant,” Web, May 27).

Unfortunately, our Republican administration is allowing this mistreatment of women to continue. And the Democratic Party not only ignores the risks to women; it is dedicated to funding Planned Parenthood with over $800 million of our taxes annually.

Sadly, our country is awash in the blood of the preborn. We must return to the ideals of the Declaration of Independence, especially respect for life, or we will cease to exist as a republic.
