Boyfriend of Gypsy Rose Blanchard found dead in their Louisiana home

Murderess Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s boyfriend, Ken Urker, died Thursday in Louisiana at age 34, according to the Lafourche Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the home at 6:15 p.m. and found Mr. Urker dead. The sheriff’s office said the investigation is continuing. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Ms. Blanchard, 35, told TMZ she believes his death is related to an overdose and said a substance was found at the scene.

Ms. Blanchard and Mr. Urker share a daughter, Aurora Raina Urker, who is 21 months old.

In 2015, Ms. Blanchard pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the killing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard. She admitted conspiring with her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother to escape abuse.

She said she endured abuse and fake medical diagnoses as a child, and her mother had Munchausen by proxy or factitious disorder imposed on another.

Ms. Blanchard received a 10-year sentence but was released from prison in December 2023 after serving seven years. Actress Joey King portrayed her in the miniseries “The Act.”

Ms. Blanchard and Mr. Urker first connected while she was in prison. She told E! News that Mr. Urker wrote her a letter of support in 2017 after he watched the HBO documentary “Mommy Dead and Dearest,” and the two began writing weekly.

They got engaged while she was incarcerated but split in 2019 to focus on “personal growth,” she told E!.

Ms. Blanchard married special education teacher Ryan Anderson in 2022 and filed for divorce less than two years later. She reunited with Mr. Urker in the spring of 2024, and the couple’s daughter was born in December 2024.
