Speaking to the media on Tuesday, July 1, GES Director-General, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, disclosed that the accused teacher has gone into hiding and has failed to report to work since the incident became public.
According to Professor Davis, the teacher was initially interdicted pending investigations. However, after failing to return to duty, the Ghana Education Service proceeded to suspend his salary.
He further revealed that the matter has been officially referred to the Ghana Police Service, which has been tasked with locating and arresting the suspect to assist with investigations.
Professor Davis stressed that if the teacher is apprehended, he will face both criminal prosecution and disciplinary sanctions from the Ghana Education Service.
He assured the public that GES is committed to ensuring that individuals who violate the trust placed in them as educators are held fully accountable.
“The teacher was first interdicted before his salary was stopped because he failed to report to work,” Professor Davis explained, adding that the Service would impose the toughest possible sanctions to safeguard students and preserve discipline within Ghana’s educational system.
The Director-General also reiterated GES’s commitment to creating safe learning environments for students, emphasising that misconduct involving learners would not be tolerated.
