Nurse & okada rider shot dead in suspected armed robbery attack

The tragic incident occurred on the night of Thursday, March 19, 2026, along the Mpohor road near the Awonakrom School junction in the Mpohor.
According to reports, the armed men had allegedly laid an ambush targeting a gold buyer believed to be returning from Tarkwa after a transaction.
Residents say the attackers, while waiting for their intended target, began firing indiscriminately at passing vehicles.
An okada rider, identified as Kwame Anumde, was shot and unalived instantly.
Another victim, Benjamin Peprah, a nurse and resident of Mpohor, was also reportedly shot while driving through the area. He also died on the spot.
A member of the Mpohor-Fiase Okada Association, Nana Andoh, confirmed the incident.
“Last night, at the Awonakrom School junction, one of our members, popularly known as Kwame Anumde was shot dead by armed robbers. They had laid ambush on the road and were shooting at anyone who passed by. Unfortunately, he was hit and died instantly,” he said.
