GES drops a note for Bole SHS teacher
by Armani Brooklyn · GHANA PAGEThe Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended the salary of a teacher from Bole Senior High School who is accused of engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a female student inside the school’s science laboratory.
According to GES, the teacher has gone into hiding and has failed to return to work since the incident came to light.
The Service has also referred the matter to the Ghana Police Service, urging law enforcement authorities to arrest the teacher and conduct a full investigation.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, July 1, GES Director-General, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, disclosed that the teacher will face both criminal prosecution and disciplinary sanctions if apprehended.
He explained that the teacher was initially interdicted, but his salary was subsequently suspended after he failed to report back to work.
Professor Davis emphasised that GES is committed to protecting students and maintaining discipline in schools, adding that the Service will impose the maximum disciplinary sanctions if the allegations are proven.
