Kasoa-based pastor arrested over death threats against the first lady & vice president
by Armani Brooklyn · GHANA PAGEThe Ghana Police Service has arrested a Kasoa-based pastor, Prophet William Gyimah for issuing death threats against Vice-President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyeman and the first lady.
Prophet Gyimah, 49, who is the General Overseer of Elohim International Ministry was arrested on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, after a video of him issuing threats against the vice president and the first lady went viral on social media platforms, including TikTok.
According to a police statement, the video has been flagged as a “high-priority” case and subsequently intercepted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET).
The suspect was apprehended during a targeted operation in Kasoa. Authorities say the swift action was necessary due to the potential implications of the content on national security.

Following his arrest, Prophet Gyimah was handed over to the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to assist with ongoing investigations.
In its statement, the police cautioned the public and media organisations against using digital platforms to spread content that could incite unrest or threaten the peace and stability of the country.
“The Police Administration wishes to strongly caution the public and media houses against using their platforms to foment trouble or disseminate content that threatens the peace and security of the State,” the statement emphasised.
Authorities have indicated that investigations are still underway and assured the public that further updates will be communicated as the case progresses.
The arrest has sparked conversations online about responsible use of social media and the legal consequences of making threats against public officials.
