People commit crimes and still go to church- Jackson K Bentum questions the relevance of religion

Renowned Kumawood movie director Jackson K Bentum has questioned the relevance of religion after an incident involving a phone dealer.

Taking to his official Facebook page, the movie director posted a picture of the young man who bought his ticket to the land of silence and said “After watching the news about the Accra phone dealer who was allegedly killed by his former girlfriend and a church singer, I became very confused about religion”.

He noted that, “According to reports and eyewitness accounts, the man was allegedly killed on Saturday, and his stolen car was even brought into the church. Yet, from what has been reported, they were able to go to church without anyone apparently realizing what had happened”.

He went on to state that “
Honestly, I still don’t understand religion sometimes. How can people commit serious sins or crimes and at the same time go to church, sing, pray and stand among other believers without showing any sign of what they have done?”

Yaa Jackson’s father claims he is aware people will insult him for his post; however, he who has made up his mind to cross the river doesn’t care about getting wet.

“People may insult me for saying this, but I don’t care. I am genuinely confused”, he said.

He continued that “I am not saying every religious person is bad. But these situations make me question how much we really understand about religion, human behaviour and morality”.

Adding that “If someone can do something terrible and still walk into a church as if nothing happened, then we need to have a serious conversation about faith, conscience and accountability”
