Amarillo Crime Stoppers Seek Answers In Recent String Of Burglaries

· NewsTalk 1290

Usually, the Amarillo Crime Stoppers' "Crime of the Week" involves a single crime and a call for information that may lead to a suspect. This week, though, there's not just one crime; it's a string of crimes. There are 5 burglaries in Amarillo that Amarillo Crime Stoppers are looking to have solved sooner rather than later.

The 5 Unsolved Burglaries In Amarillo, Texas That Crime Stoppers Wants Solved

The burglaries seem to be connected. One took place at a Family Dollar in Amarillo, and the rest happened at Dollar General stores. In three of the cases, power was cut to the building. The same suspect is being sought in all 5 burglaries. The majority of these instances took place in August. September was quiet, and then the suspect struck again on October 2.

What could inspire someone to cut power to and burglarize a Dollar General? Cigarettes. According to the information released by Crime Stoppers, in all five cases, that seems to be the suspect's primary concern. Who would burglarize a Family Dollar for cigarettes? The risk-to-reward ratio doesn't seem to add up, even considering the cost of cigarettes. It's a bold crime.

The locations where the burglar struck are:

  • Family Dollar at 2500 SW 10th, August 3, 2024
  • Dollar General at 3510 S Osage, August 19, 2024
  • Dollar General at 7125 S Bell, August 22, 2024
  • Dollar General at 205 E Willow Creek, August 23, 2024
  • Dollar General at 4304 S Washington, October 2, 2024
