Important Election Rules That Oklahomans Need To Know

· NewsTalk 1290

One of the biggest days of 2024 is just about here. Election day is just around the corner and early voting in Oklahoma is even closer. Many of Oklahoma's voters have the process pretty down pat, but there are a few rules that even experienced voters may need a refresher on.

Early Voting In Oklahoma Quickly Approaching

Other states like Texas, Georgia, Louisiana and North Carolina have already started early voting. Next week, Oklahoma will be joining the list.

Starting Oct. 31, Oklahomans can begin early voting at their local County Election Board office; note that the Election Board office is different from your local polling place, which won't be open until general elections start. So, to find your local County Election Board office ahead of time, view the list here.

Make Sure To Follow The Rules For Elections Or Be Turned Away

Rules on election day aren't meant to make the voting experience a bad one, just fair and as unbias as possible. Of course, things like "no weapons" or "no shoes, no shirt, no service" are a given, but there are a few rules out there that people don't always know they're breaking until they're sent away from the polling place.

Although many years of voting in Oklahoma have gone by without incident, it's always a good idea to refresh your memory on current regulations for election days. Whether you're voting early or on Nov. 5, you should still know what to expect before going to do your civic duty.

After all, the last thing you'd want to hear is that you couldn't vote because of a silly rule.

Check out the list below of rules you should know before heading to your polling place after Oct. 31.
