The Wait is Over: Toot’n Totum Reveals the Official Opening Date for “The Jacket Potato”

· NewsTalk 1290

It's been an interesting time in the world of potatoes in Amarillo. We had the Potato Factory, and then, after some drama, including having the police called after a recording device was found in the bathroom, the restaurant was closed. The building has sat empty.

Then word came earlier this year that Toot'n Totum took back the property they were letting The Potato Factory use and decided to try their hand at the potato game. They let us know with a series of banners in front of the property.

Welcome to Amarillo, Jacket Potato. An interesting name that came from our friends across the pond. According to their website:

British name. Texas appetite. That's The Jacket Potato.

After they started teasing us with their changing banners, the next step was to start the hiring process. There were ads put out by Toot'n Totum looking for employees for this new location. The employees have been hired and trained.

That leads to just one thing now. We are looking forward to them opening. The good news is we do not have to wait too much longer. They officially took it to their website to announce their grand opening date.

With a simple banner on their page that reads:

Opening Tuesday, March 24th!

They have seven signature spuds, including many that will become fan favorites.

  • The JP - Baked Beans and Cheddar Cheese
  • The Cheesy Green - Broccoli and Nacho Cheese Sauce
  • The Pizzatato - Pizza Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, and Pepperoni
  • The Trailerblazer - Chili, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Onions, Jalapenos
  • The Ranch Hand - Shredded Chicken, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Bacon Bits, Chives, Ranch
  • The Loaded Senor - Taco Meat, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Sour Cream, Red Salsa
  • The Brisket Boss - Chopped Brisket, Shredded Cheddar Cheese, Smoky BBQ Sauce, Onions, Jalapenos

They also have build-your-own options on the menu. If that is not enough, they also offer Frito Pie, chopped BBQ sandwiches, and footlong hot dogs.

The wait is almost over. Potatoes are moving back into the building at 4631 S Western. I know that Amarillo is ready.
