Rotterdam Ahoy warns of major travel disruption for K3 concerts during marathon weekend
Rotterdam Ahoy is urging visitors to Sunday’s afternoon concert by K3 Originals to avoid travelling by public transport. The venue warns that the Rotterdam Marathon will also be taking place that day, likely leading to heavy crowding at nearby stations.
Rotterdam Ahoy warns that visitors travelling by car may also face delays, although the venue remains reachable via exit 19a on the A15. The event location is advising against using public transport between 07:00 and 17:00 on Sunday due to expected congestion. K3 Originals is also scheduled to perform an evening show that begins at 8:30 p.m.
The original lineup of the pop trio K3, Karen Damen, Kristel Damen Verbeke, and Kathleen Aerts, is performing 17 reunion shows at Rotterdam Ahoy this month. All of the concerts by the Belgian singers have sold out.
Rotterdam Ahoy is advising visitors coming by car to book their parking tickets online ahead of time, due to expected high demand. This is to secure a place in one of the designated parking areas, P1, P2, or P3.
Even though the marathon course no longer runs directly past the main entrance of Rotterdam Ahoy for the first time in years, the event is still expected to lead to extensive road closures and traffic diversions across the city.
Those who ignore the advice and travel by public transport should be prepared for an approximately five-minute walk from the Zuidplein metro and bus station to the entrance of the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena.
Doors for the evening concert open at 7 p.m. with the performance starting at 8:30 p.m. and expected to finish around 10:30 p.m. The reunion concerts are being held at the Rotterdam Ahoy Arena, which can accommodate up to around 16,500 visitors for events of this kind.
The 45th edition of the NN Marathon Rotterdam will be held on Sunday, drawing tens of thousands of runners and large crowds of spectators to the city. This year’s race also doubles as the Dutch national marathon championship.
