Explosive found in garden of Rotterdam home

The police discovered an explosive in the garden of a home in Rotterdam on Monday evening. They cordoned off the area and called in the Ministry of Defense’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) unit to remove the device.

The police responded to the home on De Voorde, in the Feijenoord district, after receiving a report of someone with a firearm. They checked the people inside the home and found no gun.

When they checked the garden, they found the explosive device and called the EOD. “The explosive has been removed and is being detonated elsewhere by the EOD,” the Rotterdam police said on X.

“The area around De Voorde has since been released again,” the police said.

The police are investigating where the explosive came from.
