Gouda house fire spreads to two adjacent homes; Three hospitalized
A fire broke out in a home on Regulierenhof in Gouda early Wednesday morning and spread to two adjacent homes. Three people were injured and taken to the hospital by ambulance, Veiligheidsregio Hollands Midden reported.
The Veiligheidsregio’s first report of the fire was at 4:42 a.m., saying the fire brigade was fighting a large fire in three homes. At 5:30 a.m., firefighters had the blaze under control, but were still working on extinguishing it completely. They had to demolish part of the affected homes to get to the fire.
The emergency services evacuated the surrounding homes as a precaution while firefighters performed carbon monoxide checks. “Once the readings are clear, the residents will be allowed to return to their homes,” the Veiligheidsregio said.
The Veiligheidsregio, the office that manages the region’s emergency services, did not provide information on the nature or severity of the hospitalized people’s injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
