Flash fire at neighbourhood barbecue injured 8 in De Wilp

Several people were injured on W.F. de Boerstraat in De Wilp during a barbecue on Saturday evening. According to the Dagblad van het Noorden, bystanders said that 8 people were burned by a flash fire.

Multiple ambulances and police units responded to the scene. Two victims were taken to a hospital. A trauma helicopter from Eelde was also dispatched.

According to the residents, the flash fire started after something was thrown into a blaze. Several victims were then invited to cool under a shower in neighboring homes while waiting for medical assistance.

A crime scene was established by police officers around the barbecue. A jerrycan was also taken for investigation.
