Three people stabbed in Amsterdam apartment building; Suspect arrested

Three people were stabbed Saturday afternoon inside an apartment complex on Menadostraat in the Zeeburg neighborhood of Amsterdam, police said, and a suspect was arrested.

All three victims were taken to a hospital with serious injuries but were not in life-threatening condition.

Police said the three victims had two young children with them at the time of the stabbings. The children were unharmed and were too young to understand what happened, according to police, as reported by ANP.

The victims are a 45-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman from Amsterdam and a 32-year-old woman from Groningen, authorities said. Both Amsterdam residents live in the building.

The man was found wounded in the building’s entryway, while the two women were located elsewhere in the complex.

Investigators have not established a motive and said it is unknown whether the suspect knew the victims.
