Woman seriously injured during assault at Amsterdam party; Suspect at large

A woman was seriously injured in an assault at a party in Amsterdam early Saturday morning, police report. The victim reportedly got into an argument with another woman, after which a man intervened and struck her on the head with an object. The suspect remains at large.

The incident took place at a party on Rhôneweg. The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The suspect is around 30 years old, with a “dark complexion” and a tall, fairly broad build. At the time, he was wearing a white shirt and dark-colored jeans.

The suspect managed to escape after a disturbance broke out following the assault. Police had to keep aggressive people at a distance from each other using their batons.

Earlier, local media reported that the incident occurred at a party associated with the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). A police spokesperson said that is incorrect.
