Tear gas sprayed at Amsterdam Dance Event during alleged attempted jewelry robbery
Tear gas was sprayed at an Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) party in the Gashouder on Saturday evening at approximately 7:45 p.m. The gas was likely released by someone attempting to steal a necklace during a Franky Rizardo FLOW event, AT5 reports.
A scuffle broke out about 10 meters away from the stage, after which the gas was released. The suspect managed to get away amid the chaos.
After learning of the incident, event organizers opened the venue’s large wooden doors and lowered the music for five minutes. “Fortunately, we have an effective ventilation system that can replace the air inside within 15 minutes,” a spokesperson told Het Parool.
Fifteen attendees reported to the first-aid station. Three required medical examinations, but none were hospitalized.
This is already the fourth incident at this year’s ADE involving the use of pepper spray or tear gas. On Friday night, someone attempted to create disturbances and rob people by trying to divert attention using the spray at Audio Obscura in the G-Star RAW Factory and at Erlow in the Kromhouthal. Tear gas can irritate lungs and often causes people to experience panic.
