Woman sentenced to four years in prison for fatal stabbing of her 77-year-old landlord

The District Court in Amsterdam has sentenced 31-year-old Alicia R. to four years in prison and mandatory psychiatric treatment at a TBS facility for the fatal stabbing of a 77-year-old landlord. The victim was killed by the Spanish woman on October 14, 2025, on the Lekstraat in the Rivierenbuurt in Amsterdam.

The man had been renting his garden house out to R. since early August 2025; the woman worked in Amsterdam as a sex worker. During this period, a conflict occurred, after which R. left without paying the rent. The victim believed that he was still owed rent by the woman.

During the hearing, R. stated that the man asked her for sexual favors during her stay in the home, but that he refused to pay for the sexual encounters. The court stated that the claims of transgressive behavior were not proven.

The woman went to the home on October 14 to find a solution regarding the unpaid rent. During the conversation, she became enraged and grabbed a large knife from the kitchen.

R. has diminished criminal responsibility, according to the court. A psychologist and psychiatrist have detected PTSD and an autism spectrum disorder in the transgender woman. She told judges a few weeks ago during a hearing that she feels that she consists of several different people.

The punishment is equal to the recommendation set by the Public Prosecution Service. The court believes that the victim was killed in a violent way. He was stabbed 13 times in his throat and chest.

The woman only stopped stabbing the victim when she saw neighbors standing in front of the window. “The fact that the suspect cannot see or show the severity of her actions and the consequences of this will make this extra difficult for the victim’s relatives,” the court verdict read.
