Police release photos of 23-year-old suspect in fatal shooting at Muiden gas station

Dutch police have released images of a 23-year-old man they believe was involved in a fatal shooting at the Honswijck gas station along the A1 highway near Muiden on March 29.

The suspect, described as a man of light to dark skin tone with dark hair and a ring beard, stands about 1.75 meters tall. He is from the Diemen and Amsterdam area. Police know his identity but do not know his current whereabouts and have warned he may have changed his appearance, such as his hairstyle or beard.

Police received a report of shots fired around 9:30 p.m. The 37-year-old victim from Huizen was found seriously wounded in a dark-colored Audi in the parking lot of the gas station on the A1 in the direction of Amersfoort.

Emergency responders resuscitated the victim at the scene before rushing him to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

A major crimes team, known as a Team Grootschalige Opsporing (TGO), launched an immediate large-scale investigation. Over the following weeks, detectives worked intensively to determine what happened and who was responsible. The 23-year-old emerged as a suspect during the probe.

In the television program “Opsporing Verzocht,” police urged the public to watch for the man and contact them immediately if they know his location or have seen him.
