26-year-old Dutch woman dies after slipping at Ella Falls in Sri Lanka

A 26-year-old Dutch woman died on Thursday in Sri Lanka at Ella Falls, also known as Ravana Falls. According to the police, the woman slipped and fell.

The victim reportedly died from her injuries after striking a rock. She was at the falls with a travel partner said to be the same age as her.

The falls are 25 meters tall and are located near the town of Ella in the central part of the country. Ella police are investigating.

Local authorities have warned the visitors of dangerous conditions after wet weather. Tourists are said to often climb the rocks to take pictures, with accidents not uncommon.
