PM Shehbaz addresses United Nations General Assembly

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is addressing the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at UN headquarters in New York on Friday.

The prime minister, who is in New York to address the General Assembly, also held meetings with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and reaffirmed Pakistan's support for peaceful solutions to regional disputes.

The Foreign Office has said PM Shehbaz will highlight Pakistan's position on major international issues.

His address, according to the FO, will cover sustainable development, climate change, counterterrorism, Islamophobia, global economic challenges, UN reforms and issues confronting the Global South, while he will also draw attention to Palestine and Jammu and Kashmir.

The FO has also said Pakistan will continue to call for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve conflicts.
