Mukilteo police are investigating the death of a 15-year-old boy who was found dead Monday near Kamiak High School, about one mile from where he had gone missing one week prior.

State, county and city investigators began searching for Gabriel Ehrmin after he was reported missing Dec. 8. He was last seen about 3 p.m. that day heading southwest on Beverly Park Road, away from his home near the Mukilteo Speedway and toward 132nd Street Southwest, according to the Snohomish County sheriff’s office.

The Mukilteo Police Department reported finding an unidentified male dead Monday afternoon near 47th Avenue West and 109th Street Southwest, an intersection just east of Kamiak High School and Harbour Pointe Middle School. There was no danger to the public, the department said in a statement that day.

The Snohomish County medical examiner identified a person found dead Monday in Mukilteo as Ehrmin, Mukilteo police said Thursday in a statement.

Mukilteo police would not release additional information about Ehrmin’s death to protect the privacy of the boy’s family and because of the “sensitive nature” of his death, according to the statement.
