Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, one of the masterminds of the October 7, 2023, attack in southern Israel that triggered the war in Gaza, has been killed in an Israeli military operation in Rafah.

On 17th of October, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced they were working to confirm the identity of one of three Hamas operatives killed in Gaza, who they suspect may be Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas leader who was the mastermind behind the October 7 terror attacks on Israel. The IDF announced they engaged and killed three Hamas terrorists in Gaza, potentially including Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar following an airstrike on a building housing the operatives. They soldiers found a body resembling Sinwar, although full identification is pending due to booby traps. The IDF and Shin Bet are using DNA, dental, and fingerprint tests to confirm his identity. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to pursuing terrorists, quoting scripture to emphasize their resolve.
